The Chromatican City is a vast, anomalous metropolitan construct that manifested spontaneously within REALSPACE during the events of the Ashen Winter Incident. Encompassing an estimated area of 7,125 km², it is recognized as the largest human-inhabited zone in the Ashen Winter era, with an approximate population of 100 million citizens, including non-human inhabitants.

Manifestation

The city emerged without prior warning at coordinates 45.755° N, 21.232° E, corresponding to the former Banat region of Eastern Europe. Its sudden appearance triggered significant seismic activity across the surrounding region. The origins of the city remain undetermined; however, its manifestation is widely theorized to be a direct consequence of BLACKSPACE interference.

The Chromatican City is constructed entirely from shifted-Blackstone, including its architecture, infrastructure, and even minute urban details such as signage, lighting, and street furniture. The buildings are characterized by monolithic, angular designs, primarily towering black skyscrapers with a glossy, obsidian-like sheen. The layout of the city is radially organized, with wide boulevards and concentric transit corridors centring on the Citadel, located at the city’s geometric and symbolic centre. Beneath the primary surface lies an expansive network known as the Undercities.

Environmental and Strategic Importance

Uniquely among Ashen Winter locations, the Chromatican City occupies a climatically stable zone, retaining regular seasonal patterns, temperate weather, and breathable, uncontaminated air. Its position, accessibility, and structural resilience have made it the de facto capital of post-AWI civilization.
