Haemolacerosis is a fatal, anomalous medical condition identified within the confines of BLACKSPACE. Though often referred to as a disease, its characteristics more closely resemble a metaphysical affliction or curse. The condition is universally terminal and presently incurable, with no known means of halting or reversing its progression once contraction has occurred.

Transmission

The only replicable mode of transmission is via direct contact with the blood of an infected individual. Even a single drop of infected blood is sufficient to induce full transmission. Despite extensive analysis, no pathogens, prions, or biological agents have been isolated from infected blood samples, and standard sterilization procedures offer no protection. Upon exposure, Haemolacerosis integrates irreversibly into the host’s genetic structure, embedding itself at the molecular level.

Consequently, conventional medical responses, such as exsanguination, dialysis, or complete blood replacement, have proven ineffective, as the disease resumes its course regardless of the blood source present within the host.

Pathophysiology

Symptoms of Haemolacerosis are entirely internal during initial stages and manifest as spontaneous transfigurations of blood into anomalous, razor-edged, circular structures. These constructs rotate at high velocity within the bloodstream, causing extensive lacerations to internal tissues, musculature, vascular walls, and bone. Following each lacerative event, the blood constructs spontaneously dissolve, reverting to a standard liquid state.

The frequency and intensity of these events increase progressively, and the locations of activity become more widespread and unpredictable. In late-stage progression, damage breaches dermal layers, causing visible ruptures and severe external bleeding. Death results from cumulative multi-system trauma or organ failure due to severe injury, typically within 1-2 weeks after initial infection.
